Swedencare began in the 1970s when Swedish dentist Dr. Sune Wikner discovered patients previously suffering from chronic tartar formation had greatly improved oral health.

After doing some research he found that a certain type of seaweed that was being consumed by patients, was the answer. Twenty years later, his colleague discovered that a specific dog food containing this seaweed was helping aid their oral hygiene. In 2000, they co launched Swedencare around their product ProDen PlaqueOff to create easy dental care for dogs.
